Traffic Kowloon West (TKW) has launched a number of anti-jaywalking operations in a bid to reduce traffic accidents. TKW started implementing the Road Star Scheme in 2010 to compliment elderly pedestrians who abided by traffic regulations and crossed the roads by properly using traffic facilities in the hope they would spread road safety messages to their peers.
A ceremony was held at Ko Shan Theatre on September 25 to honour 30 senior citizens selected as “Road Stars" before more than 900 elderly and their families. Officiating at the ceremony were TKW Senior Superintendent Chan Man-yin and the chairpersons of the district road safety campaign committees in Kowloon West Region.
At the invitation of T KW, the Jin Hongxia Chinese Drama Troupe treated the participants a lively performance to disseminate road safety messages.
